A Summery "Hello" from us at Happy Meats
Lots going on so we thought it was time to write.
Its is always so good to see the summer sun and as the song says ě the goiní is easyî not quite but the sheep and cattle have lots of lush green grass to enjoy. We had a really good lambing this year although many of you will have met Florry a triplet lamb which we are bottle feeding. She got quite indignant when we put her in a field of sheep, so she will likely remain one of the family. All visitors welcome says Florry. Speaking of which, we have just had the entrance drive relandscaped and will soon be building some animal pens for visitors to see. Lots of people have missed the pigs!
Most of our pigs have been moved to our neighbours farm. This has been a big move for us and a great success. David and Debbie Powell feed and care for them in just the way that we did, which allows us to concentrate more on the shop.
Milly continues to work all hours in the shop and her most recent masterpiece is the new smoked bacon sausage. Its really good! Joining Milly, Paul and Eve in the shop is Jeannie who a few weeks ago was a customer! Our new salami and pie kitchen is nearing completion and superb cooks Jeannie and Milly are going to do more experimenting. Customer Alison Lloyd has been working on traditional pie recipies with us for some time, so expect lots of tastings very soon!
That is it from us. Donít forget that we have our rare breed beef almost all the time now and its usually Dexter or Long Horn. Sirloin, rump and fillet do go very quickly so it is still best to order in advance. If you cannot get to the shop, do give the local Farmers Market a try. We go to Droitwich (1st Sat of the month), Worcester (1st Sunday of the month) & Knightwick (2nd Sun of the month). The markets are really buzzing these days.
As ever, being a small business, we value your thoughts and suggestions regarding what we do, and certainly want to know if we have not got something quite right.
